EMPRESS RDBMS V8.60 continue from page 1.     New utilities include a database log analyzer and a server log analyzer. Each log analyzer maintains a history of the actions that have occurred in the respective part of each system. A log analysis tool can monitor items like who used the server, accessed the database, and what was retrieved.     In addition, V8.60 solves a resource allocation problem often encountered by database administrators. A TIMEOUT/MAX_ROWS feature limits the maximum number of rows, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and access to the database.     V8.60 features several ODBC enhancements including ODBC 3.5 compatibility. Compatibility with ODBC 3.5 provides enhanced bulk data operation and batch operation handles. The new ODBC tracing facility logs more detailed information about ODBC connections.     V8.60 also provides ODBC local access allowing clients to access the database directly using ODBC calls instead of going through the database server. Tests have resulted in up to 2 times improved performance with ODBC local access.
