Empress announces the release of Empress RDBMS v6.10, the advanced ANSI-SQL technical database solution that optimizes speed, efficiency and control over the management of complex data. The latest features include:
From images to raw instrumentation data to video clips, Empress is equipped to quickly handle large chunks of data. Through bulk segmentation, the Empress RDBMS is able to retrieve and update specified portions of bulk data. This serves to increase speed while reducing memory usage and locking overhead.
The Empress Report Writer can be used as a CGI program. This feature provides developers the ability to embed Report Writer scripts into HTML documents and thus display dynamic information over the Internet.
Java programmers can easily access Empress databases using standard Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) calls. By decreasing development time, the JDBC/ODBC Bridge makes the dissemination of information on different platforms both simple and economical.
For our real-time and near real-time developers, Empress has provided a microsecond timestamp which stores date, time and fractions of time to one millionth of a second. For example, the timestamp 19970704000000000001 indicates one millionth of a second after midnight on July 4, 1997.
Additional new characteristics include easier installation, bug fixes to previous versions and a host of other functional enhancements.
